The activity provided the interns with an opportunity to explore Japanese culture beyond the conventional classroom setting, allowing them to appreciate the colorful traditions, musical performances, and artistic expressions that reflect Japan’s rich cultural heritage.
Chindon-ya, a traditional Japanese form of street performance, combines music, colorful costumes, theatrical presentation, and entertainment. Historically associated with advertising and public announcements, this distinctive cultural practice continues to represent Japan’s creativity and appreciation for traditional performing arts.
For the participating CCJE interns, the experience served as an opportunity to develop cultural awareness, broaden international perspectives, and recognize the importance of understanding diverse communitiesโqualities that are equally relevant to their future responsibilities as criminal justice professionals.
Through the Internationalization Affairs and Linkages Office, RMC continues to encourage students to participate in activities that promote global awareness and intercultural understanding, reinforcing the belief that internationalization extends beyond international travel and can be meaningfully experienced through local institutional partnerships.
