DAVAO CITY – The journey toward professional licensure intensifies for the interns of the Rizal Memorial Colleges Inc-College of Teacher Education (CTE) as they enter the final stretch of their Competency Appraisal course. Since April 11, these future educators have been immersed in rigid daily reviews, marking the final academic hurdle before their transition to the professional field.
This intensive review phase serves as the critical preparation for the upcoming Mock Board Examination 2026, scheduled for Tuesday, April 21.
To ensure the 71 interns are well-equipped for the complexities of the board exams, a dedicated team of faculty members has been leading the daily majorship drills. The review sessions feature the expertise of:
Prof. Rosanna Fernandez (English)
Prof. Dexter Coraje (Mathematics)
Prof. Christine Basillote (Special Needs Education)
Prof. Lita Cadungog (Filipino)
Prof. Daina Trazona (General Education)
Prof. Maimuna Pangcoga (General Education)
Prof. Ellaquem Vallente (Social Studies)
Prof. Antonio A. Solomon Jr. (Professional Ed Courses)
As the culminating output for the Competency Appraisal course, the Mock Board Exam carries significant weight. The college has clarified the academic implications for this year’s batch.
In a departure from some traditional practices, there will be no revalida (re-examination) for those who do not meet the passing mark in the Mock Board Exam.
While the exam is a major milestone, the Dean, Dr. Agnes P. Mascariñas noted that it is one of several components within the Competency Appraisal course. Interns still have the opportunity to satisfy other course requirements to secure an overall passing grade.
The rigorous schedule reflects the department’s commitment to excellence, ensuring that every candidate is not just prepared to pass, but to excel as a future molder of minds. Consistent with the college’s mission, the focus remains on “Preparing Future Educators for Excellence”through discipline, mastery, and professional readiness.
Good luck and God bless you all Interns!
