RMC joins CHED 28th Anniversary Events

May 18, 2022 marked the 28th founding anniversary of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). As part of the celebration, a seminar was conducted at the Social Hall of the University of Southeastern Philippines, Bo. Obrero, Davao City with the theme “Hybrid Seminar on Developing Futures Thinking Among UniFAST Grantees.”

The seminar was hybrid because live audience were present at the USP Social Hall while live audience were also watching via Zoom and FB Live.

The aim of the seminar was to teach CHED and UniFAST scholarship grantees on how to become a futures  thinker. One of the topics  highlighted was about the global challenges that the new generation is experiencing. These challenges include  health issues, education and learning, peace and conflict, global ethics, and many more.

Mr. Jestoni Trozo, a Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) grantee and CASED student, represented the RMC CHED grantees.  He was accompanied by NSTP Coordinator Mrs. Cristina C. Ariate, who attended in behalf of Mr. Amado S. Ancla, RMC’s Scholarship Focal Person.  Scores of grantees and scholarship focals from the Davao Region attended the event.

The guest speaker, Dr. Rec E. Eguia, PhD, emphasized  that young ones should be more aware of what is happening in their surroundings. He gave significance to qualities such as having grit and a strong mindset in planning  on what lies ahead. He used the famous qoute of Mahatma Gandhi which says, “The future depends on what we do in the present” to instill the  importance of learning.

The seminar was held in the morning while the CHED ONSE: Tagisan ng Kaalaman sa CHED at UniFAST was held in the afternoon.  There was also a headdress contest.  Mr. Trozo participated in both contests and managed to reach the headdress finals.
